2:22 is a science fiction thriller movie about an air traffic controller named Dylan who, due to some anomaly surrounding the time 2:22, prevents an air accident and meets a lady named Sarah. Sarah and Dylan are engrossed in a mystery, and the film descends into a spiral where destinies are inexplicably linked, with potentially deadly consequences.

There was a nice turnout for the movie screening, and we had students across all levels. Tickets cost N500 (Only :)) and include a drink and a snack package.

Were you present for the movie night? Did you like the movie? Is there another movie you would like us to screen in CU? Please share your thoughts in the comment section!

Covenant University Trade Fair

IMG_1246The CU Trade Fair is usually a time for student businesses and initiatives to take centre stage. This year’s edition was no different; students engaged in various activities ranging from fashion and food to tech and education.

The trade fair held from October 25 to 27.

One of the more popular attractions of the trade fair was Papa’s Grill. A fast food outlet that specialized in chips and BBQ chicken. The FIFA stands also drew large crowds, mostly boys who were eager to part with 500 Naira in exchange for game time in FIFA 19 on a Playstation 4.

The karaoke stand also attracted tonnes of students, with vocal skill ranging from superior to bleh, who were interested in trying their voice in matching popular songs word for word.

There were also the fashion stands, selling work and casual clothes, wigs, jerseys and footwear. There was also a sprinkling of bole and fish stands selling the popular South-South delicacy.

movie night · Nappily ever after · shawshank redemption

Movie Nights I and II

We organized 2 movie nights this semester as part of an awareness campaign aimed at growing the startup’s brand and image among the students.

The first movie night screened the classic movie The Shawshank Redemption, a 1994 film that is widely viewed as one of the best ever made. Movie goers obtained tickets for just 500 naira and received complementary popcorn and a drink.

After some technical difficulties (For which we are still very sorry!) the movie got underway and we finally wrapped up by 8pm.

All in all, the movie night was sucecssful and provided us with valuable insight on how better to plan and execute subsequent movie nights and events in general.

The second movie night (Movie Night II) screened Nappily Ever After, a film about a woman learning to live life to the fullest with the help of a barber.

Use space start up

Use space Covenant university

Startup companies can come in all forms and sizes. Some of the critical tasks are to build a co-founder team to secure key skills, know-how, financial resources, and other elements to conduct research on the target market.
Startups have several options for funding. Venture capital firms and angel investors may help startup companies begin operations, exchanging seed money for an equity stake in the firm. Venture capitalists and angel investors provide financing to a range of startups (a portfolio), with the expectation that a very small number of the startups will become viable and make money. In practice though, many startups are initially funded by the founders themselves using “bootstrapping”, in which loans or monetary gifts from friends and family are combined with savings and credit carddebt to finance the venture.

Use space CU is a startup company that was founded by covenant university and the students belong to teams which make this start up company what it is. Each team has a role to play and they’re as follows;

Student Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship
It is the process of designing, launching and running a new business, which is more often than not, initially a small business, offering a product, process or service for sale or hire. The people who create these businesses are called entrepreneurs.

Student Entrepreneurship
Covenant university is a place where student entrepreneurs are being encouraged to bring out their ideas and develop their full potential not by just focusing on their course of study alone. Covenant university offers a course titled Entrepreneurship development studies (EDS) which helps and educates the students to channel their inner entrepreneurs, bring out new ideas or innovations in order to fill in the gaps missing in our society today.
We have various startup companies which aid students to develop their minds.
Covenant university enables their Graduates (Eagles) to become Job Creators and Problem solvers in our societies in order to reduce Unemployment Rate.
What is a start up?
A startup company (startup or start-up) is an entrepreneurial venture which is typically a newly emerged, fast-growing business that aims to meet a marketplace need by developing a viable business model around an innovative product, service, process or a platform. A startup is usually a company designed to effectively develop and validate a scalable business model.

Our start up is called use space.
